Reducing Financial Stress: Scholarships to Apply to in February 2025

The cost of law school can be daunting, and for many students, the financial strain can feel overwhelming. Fortunately, there are a variety of scholarship opportunities designed to ease this burden. At Barrier Breakers®, Inc., we are dedicated to helping students navigate their path to law school by providing valuable resources and services to secure financial aid and reduce financial stress.

Numerous organizations offer scholarships to assist both future and current law students with their tuition costs. We’ve compiled a list of scholarships available for applications beginning February 2025.


  1. Wind Law, LLC Scholarship: Pre-law undergraduate or first year law students can apply to the Wind Law Scholarship. The recipient will receive $1,000 to help support the cost of school expenses. Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and write a one to three page typed essay on their intended choice of law. Deadline is February 15

  2. 2025 The Clayton Law Scholarship: This $2,500 scholarship award is for African-American students who plan to attend a historically black college or university while studying a criminal justice related field. The student must be involved in criminal justice related activities and other extracurriculars to be eligible. A minimum of a 3.5 GPA is required as well. Applicants must provide a letter of recommendation, proof of SAT or ACT score and a 500 word essay answering the following: How could the criminal justice system be improved? What would you do to improve it? Submit by February 15.

  3. Japanese American Bar Association Education Foundation Scholarship: The Japanese American Bar Association Education Foundation is awarding students an award to help with financial concerns. Students must be current law students or recent law school graduates with a connection to the Japanese American or API community. More information can be found on their website! Submit application by February 17.

  4. Keker, Van Nest & Peters LLP Diversity Scholarship: In hopes to encourage diversity, equity and inclusion in the legal profession, Keker, Van Nest & Peters LLP offers a $100,000 scholarship split between 4 recipients. To be eligible, students must be first-year law students from an ABA-accredited school and submit documents including a personal statement. The personal statement should describe your interest in pursuing a career in litigation in the Bay Area and how your life experiences contribute to the legal community. Deadline is February 18.

  5. Bowman and Brooke Foundation Future Defense Lawyer Scholarship: To apply to this scholarship, you must self identify as Black or African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Hispanic or Latino, Asian, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, LGBTQIA+ and/or an individual with a disability. Applicants must demonstrate their interest as a defense lawyer and their career goals through a personal statement. 2 awards will be awarded $5,000. Deadline to submit is February 27.

  6. The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law JD Scholarship: There are multiple scholarship programs from The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law that are offered to JD students. One of them includes the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarship that allows students of color to be offered an award of up to $6,000. More information on the other programs can be found on their website! All scholarship submissions are due February 28.

  7. Hollingsworth Law Firm Legal Scholarship: Hollingsworth Law Firm is excited to announce their Legal Scholarship to help aspiring law students on their education. Students who attend an accredited undergraduate or law school can apply to win a $1,000 scholarship. Requirements include a one to three page essay explaining your interest in a specific area of law you intend to pursue. Applications are due February 28.
